Privacy Policy

rgus ("the app") is a macOS menu bar utility that monitors your Mac while armed. This policy describes what data the app accesses and how it is handled.

Summary

Argus runs entirely on your Mac. We do not operate servers, accounts, analytics, or cloud sync for the app.

Data stored on your device

Argus stores the following locally using macOS UserDefaults and the app sandbox:

• A hashed version of your disarm PIN (not stored in plain text)
• Your settings (sensor toggles, grace period, arming countdown, alarm sound choice, launch-at-login preference, and similar options)
• Onboarding completion state

This data never leaves your Mac through Argus.

Permissions

Input Monitoring

Argus requests Input Monitoring permission to detect keyboard and mouse activity only while the app is armed. The event tap is listen-only and is not used when disarmed.

Login Item

If you enable launch at login, Argus registers as a login item so it can start when you sign in.

Touch ID / device authentication

If you use Touch ID or your Mac login password to disarm, authentication is handled by macOS LocalAuthentication. Argus does not receive or store your password or biometric data.

Data collection

Argus does not collect, transmit, or sell personal data. There is no tracking, advertising, or third-party analytics in the app.

Children

Argus is not directed at children under 13.

Changes

We may update this policy if the app's behavior changes. The "Last updated" date will be revised accordingly.
